The New Bath

We’re spending the weekend in Mansfield with Leslye’s parents, and since the weather has generally been cold, snowy and windy, we’ve had lots of indoor playtime with Carolyne. We also, on Saturday night, had her first bath outside of the bath seat we’ve been using since about the 2-week mark. She loves the bath seat and has rarely complained about being hosed down and washed off, so we figured it wouldn’t be a big transition to just sitting in a regular bath tub. Sitting up is now a regular part of the routine and our girl is quite good at it, even though her head (93rd percentile, baby!) sometimes makes it seem as if she should just topple over.

But any transition is risky, so when we placed Carolyne in about 2 inches of water she didn’t seem to enjoy it. This wasn’t full-out screeching, mind you, so I’m optimistic she’ll make her peace with the tub. But it was fairly consistent unhappiness throughout, until the time we hauled her out and toweled her off. She loves the towel and usually greets it with lots of her fake spitting and some joyful squeals.

Whatever the effect of the bath, she has eaten like a champ up in North Central Pa.; must be something about the mountain air, I suppose. She weighed in at 16 pounds and nearly 7 ounces back on Monday. Today she feels like 25 or so.

  1. Have you had to beat off Lil or is Carolyne adjusting to her bath?

Maybe you should take pictures so she will be distracted by her hamming!!
