Dear Carolyne,
On my first day home with you, Grandma Heff and Grandpa Harry visited, although Harry went on to visit a friend in Virginia. I guess your grandmother thought I might need some help, but as it happened we had a great day filled with a walk, some naps and a good amount of time spent showing off your new Almost-Rolling-Over move.
You were very, very smiley, as you frequently are, and that pleased your audience to no end. Later, coming back from the store, I passed a Good Humor truck (who knew they still had those?) and thought, of all the gifts we could give to you, a good sense of humor might be one of the most important. It’s certainly one that you seem to display in your daily activity, and I hope you always have your good humor with you. I may not be able to teach you everything, but I promise we’ll be able to laugh together.
The ice cream, however, is still a ways off.
