I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to mention a story in today’s Pittsburgh Tribune-Review with a headline written by a copy editor who is either clever or a Penn State fan: Pitt home to promising study on the brain-dead.
“People are watching closely at what is taking place at Pitt,” said Arthur Caplan, chairman of the department of medical ethics at the University of Pennsylvania. “They want to see if they can move forward without triggering too much controversy.” Nationally, research on the brain-dead is very rare, he said.
Well, yeah. But Pitt has plenty of volunteers.
